Plaid: 2 Ways

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

It's finally "winter" here in Florida, which means 60s this week! As a New England native, this should be a piece of cake, but even I find myself getting chilly these days. I can't complain though since I'm always down for a little sweater weather, especially when it involves scarves, booties and cute layering :)

In this post, I'm showing you how I wear plaid, two ways. Both have a casual feel, but one gets a little amped up in the chic factor.

If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with Taralynn McNitt's blog Simply Taralynn! She's an amazing healthy/fitness/lifestyle inspiration and is as real as they get. I love following her blog for daily motivation and if you have yet to check it out, you need to! You won't help, but feel so inspired. On top of it all, she has her own online clothing boutique - talk about #bloggergoals!

This plaid top I'm styling today is from her collection and one thing I've noticed with all of her pieces is how cozy and comfortable everything is. I love a good quality piece and when you throw comfort in there, I'm all in.

In this first look, I paired my plaid top with of course, boyfriend jeans! I can't tell you enough how necessary it is to own a pair of boyfriend jeans - they literally go with everything, especially if you're into a relaxed, effortless vibe. One of the reasons why I love this look so much.

I don't wear a lot of jewelry, but when I do it's very simple. I decided to pair this outfit with my favorite monogram necklace.

In my second look, I wanted the style to be a little more sophisticated that would be perfect for a lunch date or cocktails after work. Plaid can be a little tricky, but when done right it can really add some chicness to an outfit. Of course you can't go wrong with white denim, and when you pair it with a drapey cardigan, it just elevates the whole look. Not to mention, this cardigan has a fleece lining so you get some added warmth.

I love how each outfit gives two completely different vibes - it really shows that when you have staple pieces, you can style them however you want to get the look you want.

Hopefully you enjoyed these looks! What are your go-to closet staples and how do you style them?
