One of the best parts of living in Tampa is how easy we can head downtown and see a broadway show at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts. Date night ideas get a little easier and it gives us the perfect reason to dress up. Last week, the hubby and I went to see Once The Musical and it has now become one of our favorite shows to date. Although I must say, Beauty and the Beast still has a very special place in my heart ;)

When it comes to my style, I love a classic look with an effortless feel and this look was no exception. I was inspired by the vintage floral print on this flutter skirt from J.Crew - a piece I had been eyeing for quite some time. You can wear this skirt in so many ways, but I wanted a playful look for the show and thought this striped tank paired perfectly.

Mixing patterns can be intimidating, but I promise you it doesn't have to be! For the foolproof way, keep it simple and match colors in both prints like I've done here. Although this look is a bit bolder, it doesn't come off loud or aggressive; you can pull off a classic and understated look, while still having it visually interesting.

And because it can get a bit chilly with all the central air conditioning running in Florida, I brought along a cover up. This added warmth and a sophisticated flair to the outfit.

Hopefully this inspires you to start mixing patterns into your everyday style! And maybe even see a broadway show. I've always loved musicals and 'Once' was such a treat to see. Great music with an unexpected love story that will make you feel ALL the feels. And if you're in the Tampa Bay area, the Straz Center offers a special discount for those with their military ID :)

What are some of your favorite ways to mix up a classic look?
