Happy New Year!

Like Christmas, this was my and Matthew's first New Year's together - our first kiss at midnight as cheesy as that sounds. I talk a lot about how unpredictable life can be in the military and normally, that follows with all the stress. But when moments like these happen, I start to appreciate this lifestyle just a little bit more. Those "firsts" you're supposed to get when you're dating...that giddy feeling...we get to have those when we're married. And for me, I take those moments as sweet reminders of why I fell in love with my husband to begin with.

This year, we spent New Year's Eve with such a sweet and genuine group of people - one of them being Anna, an old high school friend. She and some friends planned a pot luck so I decided to try out my apple pie again, tweaking it from the last time. With the help of a couple of recipes, I think I finally got it! Let me tell you, more butter is the answer. But isn't that always the case? Crimping needs work, but I thought stars would be a nice touch for NYE :) I'll be sure to post the recipe soon!

Did I mention I made two apple pies? The other was a streusel topping! I have to admit, both were DELICIOUS. The perfect balance of sweet, tart, and cinnamon goodness. As of a matter of fact, I had the streusel one for breakfast this morning - it's my New Year's resolution to eat WELL ;)

2014 was a whirlwind, but I feel so blessed for what this past year has offered. We expanded our family with a sweet puppy, became homeowners, celebrated our marriage with loved ones and met some incredible people along the way. The best has yet to come as they say, but if 2015 is anything like 2014 then I say BRING IT because I'm ready.
