Casual Date Night

Sunday, November 09, 2014

Matthew got tickets to a Tampa Bay Lightning game on Thursday so naturally it became date night! It was casual and exactly what we needed with all the stress going on with the house.

We started the night off with dinner at Edison: Food + Drink Lab and like the name, it really was an experiment of flavors...a mixology of food and drink if you will. And if you're looking for your basic steak and potato...well, you won't find it here.

Everything was amazingly DELICIOUS. For an app, we went with the pork belly, and for our mains we shared the Bacon-wrapped Shrimp and Grits and the Jamaican-Spiced Fried Chicken and Waffle...pretty aggressive I know, but it was date night after all :)

After filling up our bellies, we were off to the hockey game! It was our first Lightning game and just so happened to be military appreciation night :)

Of course my friends will tell you I'm not the hugest hockey fan, but it was nice to get out and actually do something different. I mean, any reason to do my hair and makeup, right? And even though my husband makes me feel beautiful everyday, there's just something about hearing the words, "You look so pretty." before starting the night that never gets old...wouldn't you agree? :)

It's a long weekend because of Veteran's day so I'm excited! We're on our way to the Tampa Bay Home Show in St. Pete and hoping to gain a few ideas. We received news this weekend that the appraisal for the house went through so we should be closing by next week, yay! After 3 months of searching for the right home and living in this crazy apartment, it's all FINALLY happening. Yes, we'll have to move again in 2 years, but I guess you could say that's military life. Right now, at this moment, I'm happy to say we'll be home soon :)

  3. I'm not a hockey fan (though my hubs just informed me he wants to go to a game before we leave for NJ next summer!) but I definitely love exploring new restaurants. Edison sounds and looks fantastic! And yes, it always feels good to hear your hubby say how pretty you look. We girls put in more effort than they realize, so a little acknowledgement is nice :)
