mini grocery trip - you can do it too

Driving on the left side…CHECK!

What you see in the picture above may look like a cautionary sign, but fear not! This sign is your answer to a quick grocery trip out in town.

I remember seeing this sign when I first arrived in Okinawa and thinking, 'Proceed with caution? Alright, will do.' I mean c'mon…yellow sign, red markings…there was no way my years on a construction site could do me wrong on this one. Well it turned out, IT DID. I got over it quickly though because this place soon became my go-to, especially whenever Matthew was away for work.

The sign is written in Kanji so I'm not exactly sure what it says, but to us Americans we refer to it as 'San A.' I'm assuming because the triangles are shaped like A's? I'm just grateful to have friends here who can show me around and take me to places where we can get the best stuff. And if you know a little bit about Matthew and me, you know we ONLY like the best ;)

The commissary on base is fine, but VERY limited.  So luckily, there are several San A's spread out around town, as well as other great stores (which I'll talk about in a different post)!

And to go with all that wasabi….

My eyes light up every time I stroll over to this section. Matthew is always so quick to choose one, but I like to take my time and check out my options (surprise, surprise).  There were sushi roll variations as well, but my phone ran out of battery before I could snap some photos. Luckily, there is always next time!

So what did I get this time around?

I also bought a mango, but I ate that before I could take a picture (sorry, Lis!). How cute do those tomatoes look?

This was just a small snippet of what many of the San-A's look like here on island. Think of it as a HUGE supermarket with all the practical stuff everybody needs. Let me tell you, the Japanese do it right here. On top of being the friendliest people I have ever met, they know how to ship a good product.

Getting girly on my next post so stay tuned!…
